A recent survey of 1,000 Coloradoans shows that 65% of them use marijuana for pain and 80% of those said it helped reduce pain. The study also found that 88% of those surveyed have stopped taking opioids altogether.

The survey also asked about sleep, and 75% of those surveyed said that they use marijuana to improve their sleep, according to Web MD. The survey found that 84% experienced better sleep and 83% stopped using prescriptions or over-the-counter sleep aids.

Study author Dr. Gwen Wurm said, “These aren’t the only reasons people are using marijuana, but it’s one of the drivers for use. People who are using it for those reasons are finding it to be effective.”
