Marijuana Law

Scott Walker, governor of Wisconsin, signed a bill into law last Thursday which legalizes use of CBD (Cannabidiol) to treat children suffering from epilepsy and other illnesses that result in seizures. This follows in the footsteps of states like Utah, Alabama, Mississippi, and Kentucky which also put into effect similar laws this year in hopes of eradicating epilepsy.

This came as somewhat of a surprise to residents of Wisconsin as Walker has been typically opposed to any type of marijuana reform in the past. It’s believed that many families were going to leave the state to seek treatment in marijuana friendly areas if he refused to sign the bill.

The bill only applies to CBD oil, which will have zero psychoactive effects on the user, and it must be administered by a sanctioned doctor.

Proponents hope that CBD oil will be available for purchase to families who genuinely need it by fall of this year.
